Shearling/ Sheepskin/ Leather, COAT CLEANING, Home Style.
Dry cleaning takes life out of the coats, and is not cheap, I usually recommend you do as much cleaning as you can yourself. How?? Well a stiff wire brush, (not one you clean you Bar-B- Q grill with), but like a medium stiff brass bristled brush, sold in some grocery stores, and brush dirt out, maybe sand out a little of the suede skin off while doing this procedure. Use common sense, don't rip the coat, or dwell on a weak area of skin.
Another thing you can do is buy a can of cleaning spray we offer for $9.99 a can, enough to do a coat or two. An get a clean white rough terry cloth towel, spray cleaning spray on the coat and on the towel, and rub vigorously. This will take a lot of dirt and grime out of the coats. If non of the above is doing the job, have it dry cleaned, but ask the cleaner if they have done shearling/sheepskin coats before you give them the coat, and then tell em to take it easy on your garment.
Now another thing you could do when you buy the coat or after you have it cleaned, is to put "Rain& Stain ProtectALL" spray on the coat, it goes on damp but disappears, and acts like Scotch Guard does on furniture. Helps to make the coat water resistant and keeps water from soaking into the coat easily, and helps keep out dust and dirt. Of course it doesn't make the coat water and dirt proof, just water and dirt resistant. We sell Rain & Stain Protectall @ $9.99 a can too. Thanks, Have fun...Pat
